Call To Action

Posted about 9 years ago by Tiney Ray

I send greetings from the state UAPRN state office. This is an exciting time for advanced practice clinicians, because change is happening all around us. House Bill 211 included a change in the pharmacy code that mandated every dispensed medication lists a "physician's" name on the label regardless of who ordered the prescription. The word "physician" was replaced by the word "provider", thus allowing APRN names to be listed on medication container labels in Georgia for the first time. Nurse practitioners from many states have made significant progress this year in breaking down scope of practice barriers, and Georgia is on its way. The goal of the UAPRN executive board is to host a statewide UAPRN conference by the fall of 2016. Here are 5 reasons why a state wide conference is crucial to the advanced practice profession:

  1. Community: This gives all advanced practice professionals the chance to network and develop a sense of unity within the profession.
  2. Reality check: This gives providers first hand account of what is really going on in the profession.
  3. Synergy: There is great power from people seeing the possibility in the face of adversity (ie. modernization of advanced practice).
  4. Possibilities: Having a well-thought out keynote from a professional sets the stage for brainstorming.
  5. Education: There will be opportunity to obtain professional education credit.
So what is next:

The UAPRN state board cannot do this without the help and support of its members. I am humbly requesting for volunteers to be a part of the planning committee so we can make this a great event for advanced practice clinicians.

We would like to get started as soon as possible. Those interested in participating please contact me. I can be reached by email: tineyray@gmail.com

I look forward to hearing from you.

Respectfully,

Tiney Ray, PhD, FNP-BC
