Attention All Members !!!

Posted almost 11 years ago by James F. Lawrence

Greetings to all of our UAPRN Members!!

I believe fall is upon us with these cooler temperatures lately. I have good news and bad news to share with you all. The good news is that after our state-wide conference call, your individual chapter hard work and efforts dedicated toward membership, and collaboration with ENP on a membership project, we have surpassed our 500 member point. Our organization's membership goal of 550 members by December 31, 2014 is becoming a closer target for us to reach so please continue what you are doing!!

The sad and personally disappointing news is that after many, many requests for chapter involvement regarding the gala event to honor our members who have been preceptors and gone the "extra mile" in their actions within the organization, we only had approximately 50% of the chapters to respond to our requests. This has led me to unfortunately cancel the gala event that was to coincide with NP Week.

If I receive any emails from our members that would reflect an increase in interests and participation in planning this event, I would be ecstatic to entertain rescheduling the event- per appropriate chapter involvement.

Last month, I failed to recognize our Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS )colleagues who are members. September 1-7, 2014 was national CNS week. If you are a member of UAPRN and like your president, a CNS, I would love to hear from you. New, fresh ideas on existing goals as well as establishing new goals is exactly what this organization needs. It is solely my opinion that this organization focuses too much on only on one of the many differing APRNs that exist and deserve our attention and collaboration. However, UAPRN and I can only combat this concern if we know that other APRNs are members of the organization. There are two candidates that are currently on the state ballot who are jointly certified and work to some capacity as a Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Please let me hear about your thoughts on the appreciation gala as well as identify other members who are CNSs, CRNAs, CNMs, and advanced certified nurse executives and educators!
