Please Remember the two Weekends of October 18-19 and 25-26!

Posted almost 5 years ago by James F. Lawrence

The weekends of October 18th-19th and 25th-26th are our designated dates for our state-wide UAPRN Community Service Day Projects.

Last year, most of our UAPRN chapters planned service projects on the designated dates to give back to our communities. Some of the projects focused on wellness fairs to the veteran community, adopting an area of the highway in restoration, assisting with a safe house for battered women, Habitat for Humanity development, and working with breast cancer development projects, to name just a few.

Each UAPRN chapter can tunnel its own creativity and talents in areas that their community needs are the greatest. All that I ask is that your chapter president let me know the wonderful acts of service and kindness your chapter is doing my sending me pictures and a 2 to 3 paragraph description of your chapter's event.

Your UAPRN state officers are volunteering at Project Open Hand and I have 10 vacant volunteer spots to fill. If you have emailed me earlier in the year about your desire to join us, please email me again so that I may have a more current list. If you haven't please consider joining us.

Project Open Hand's information consists of the following:

Mission, Vision, Purpose, Core Values & Guiding Principles

Open Hand helps people prevent or better manage chronic disease through Comprehensive Nutrition Care™, which combines home-delivered meals and nutrition education as a means to reinforce the connection between informed food choices and improved quality of life.

Open Hand seeks to eliminate disability and untimely death due to nutrition-sensitive chronic disease.

To serve our community by empowering people to live healthier, more productive lives.

Core Values
We value success and our passion for winning through trust, transparent leadership and our commitment to diversity.

Guiding Principles
Our guiding principles that frame all decision-making are based on our purpose, these values and a mutual respect for each individual's contribution to the fulfillment of our mission.

By volunteering with your state UAPRN officers on October 25, 2014, we will be either meal packing or delivering meals. This is an organization that is truly close to my heart. Over the past 10 years of volunteering with them, I have seen first-hand how a warm, nutritional meal breaks down pre-existing barriers and significantly improves the quality of lives of dozens of Georgians that I have served.

If you are interested in participating and receiving back many more blessings in return from your giving, than email me at jflaprn@gmail.com. Space for this date is limited!
