Congratulations!!!

I am proud to announce the 2014 UAPRN Penny Maynard Memorial Scholarship recipients this year. History was made this year as we had a strong cohort of applicants and the committee struggled with selecting only 2 candidates.
When Patricia Murray and Cindy Rinehart presented their case to me. I agreed with their selection of candidates. However, such a small difference existed between two candidates, the Executive Board unanimously agreed to give three scholarships this year instead of our previously budgeted two awards.
As a result, it is with great pride that I announce the three exceptional candidates who are well on their way to becoming exceptional nursing leaders. They are:

AMELIA MALCOLM
SHAKIRA LYNN
VICTORIA MARKS

Each of these outstanding individuals will be awarded $2000.00 in scholarship monies as well as presented with a plaque commemorating this recognition at the annual UAPRN state conference held on September13, 2014 in Macon, Georgia. Please show your support by planning on being in attendance.

The selection process was very challenging as we had 10 candidates to review with everyone presenting with exceptional talents and abilities. The selection criteria that the committee focused on included: leadershiip experience, scholarly involvement, a well-articulated mission statement, volunteerism, and their participation as a RN or APRN in their community.
