It is with profound sadness and deep respect that we acknowledge the passing of Dr. Loretta Ford, a trailblazer in nursing and a visionary leader whose impact on healthcare will resonate for generations.
Dr. Ford, co-founder of the first nurse practitioner program in 1965, revolutionized the role of nurses in healthcare delivery. Her innovative work alongside Dr. Henry Silver laid the foundation for the nurse practitioner profession, advancing access to quality care and empowering nurses to practice at the highest level of their education and expertise.
Her legacy is one of dedication, innovation, and compassion. Dr. Ford’s contributions transformed not only the nursing profession but also the lives of countless patients who have benefitted from the care and expertise of nurse practitioners.
