Lisa Ousley, Doctor of Nursing Practice, Family Nurse Practitioner is a Nursing Assistant Professor, Graduate Programs at East Tennessee State University. With over 20 years in primary care practice, she has extensive experience with primary care across the lifespan. Lisa’s areas of clinical and research interest include college health, dermatological conditions, prioritizing skin cancer, and nursing innovation. Dr. Ousley is the inventor of a dermatology education tool, Instructional Dermatology Surface Models (IDSMs). IDSM’s US patent was publicly published in January 2020. Lisa coauthored the first dermatology reference book written by nurse practitioners, Dermatology for Advanced Practice Nurses. She has multiple peer reviewed publications and has authored several textbook chapters related to the skin. Dr. Ousley has experience serving as President and Secretary for her regional NP organization. In 2019, she moved to Georgia (GA). She is positioned to serve as a professional volunteer to promote nurse practitioners across GA. 

James Lawrence, Ph.D. APRN BC CPS CHPN FAANP is a veteran Adult and Gerontological Nurse Practitioner who has served as healthcare advisor and/or consultant under three Georgia gubernatorial administrations and 2 U.S. Presidents’ administrations. Special interests with research and funding interests include ageism, pain management, the role that culture plays upon healthcare decisions, and hospice, palliative, and veteran care. I have co-developed several graduate and post graduate advanced practice registered nurses’ curricula as well as have taught in ADN, BSN, MSN, Post Masters Certificate, DNP, Ph.D., and MD programs across the country. Prior to entering nursing, I was a public-school classroom teacher, Assistant Principal, and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Development. Throughout my career, I have served on numerous state, national, and international boards of directors.


Breanna M. Brown is an Advance Practice Provider with the Emory University Orthopaedics Spine Team at Grady Memorial Hospital. Prior to working for Emory, Breanna was a doctorate student at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Her DNP project was focused on workplace wellness and was titled The Step Challenge: Implementing a Quality Improvement Project Within Corporate America. During her time at Wayne State University, she served as the President of the WSU Michigan Counsel of Nurse Practitioners (MICNP) chapter.

Breanna’s clinical interest include interdisciplinary collaboration, access to healthcare, patient advocacy, and advancing nurse practitioner autonomy. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau and United Advanced Practice Registered Nurses of Georgia (UAPRN).
