SB 94 Unanimously Passes in Subcommittee

SB 94,which would give APRN’s the authority to order radiographic imaging tests such as MRI and CT scans, received a unanimous “Do Pass” Recommendation from the Professions Sub-Committee of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee. Several organization including the Georgia Hospital Association, the Community Hospital Alliance, the Georgia Nurses Association, HomeTown Health, Children’s Hospitals of Atlanta and Emory University/Emory Healthcare, all testified in favor of the bill with the Medical Association of Georgia and the Georgia Radiological Society testifying in opposition to the bill. The bill will now must be considered by the full Senate Health and Human Services Committee to advance.

Action Needed: Please contact the Senate Health Committee members through the links below by noon on Tuesday, February 19 as the bill could be heard at the next committee meeting that afternoon. If you are a constituent and vote in their district, please state so.

If you all their office in Atlanta the message is: Please support SB 94 and vote “Do Pass” to increase improve quality and access to care for Georgia citizens.

If your contact is through e-mail: The subject line should read “support SB 94” .A sample letter is attached to this announcement. Personalize the letter and add an actual example of compromised or delayed care, delay in getting results, duplicate or unnecessary Emergency Room visits etc.
