Call to ACTION: SB 166 (Nursing Compact Bill) AND HB 301 (P-TIP) Preceptor Tax Incentive Program

APRNs Please take the time to make some calls/emails ASAP in support of the following TWO bills that will benefit APRNs of Georgia HB 301 (Preceptor Tax Incentive Program) & SB 166 (Nurse Compact Bill).

HB 301 P-TIP
Many are aware that we have a shortage of preceptors for our APRN students. This bill would help both Georgia APRN and PA preceptors receive a tax incentive as MDs in primary care currently receive for taking Georgia APRN, PA, and Medical Students for clinical rotations.

The bill does four things:

  1. Converts the current deductions to tax credits
  2. Adds APRN and PA preceptors as recipients (meeting the same eligibility requirements as physicians)
  3. Has an effective date retroactive to January 1, 2017 so that all tax letters for 2017 will be for credits
  4. Implements an incentive structure to provide higher amounts of credits for rotations 4-10.

    MESSAGE: We are in full support of the passage of HB 301 which provides a necessary resource to secure the needed community based faculty to provide the clinical training of MD, DO, PA, and APRN students. SB 166 (Nursing Compact Bill)
Call your individual Senator asking them to support the bill and Vote YES when the Bill comes up for a Vote. You can look up your home district Senator at: openstates.org

Also call or email the members of the Senate Rules Committee and the Lt. Governor's Office and request their support in  getting SB 166 scheduled on the Senate for for a Hearing and Vote. Crossover Day is a week from TODAY, so this bill needs to move quickly to make it over the the HOUSE.
