Haiti Medical Mission Trip 2017

Posted over 7 years ago by Tiney Ray

Greetings,
You are receiving this letter because you have expressed interest in joining our team. I am writing you on behalf of Jean-Marie Philemon, founder of the non profit organization The Christian Family Ministry For the Needy Inc. Jean-Marie has organized an annual Medical Mission trip (The Luke 9 Project) to his hometown of Gonaives Haiti and would love to have your help.

Crisis in Haiti
2.5 million Haitians live in extreme poverty.
This is about 80% of the rural population.
Only 40% of the people have access to clean water.
With limited health resources and medical facilities there is a severe healthcare crisis in Haiti.

Our Mission
Our purpose is to witness the gospel of Christ to the people of Haiti through medical mission. We will provide medical treatment and medications to people who lack sufficient access or financial resources. We believe that educating communities and assisting local physicians will empower and enrich the quality of life in Haiti.

In HaIti we will hold mobile clinics over a course of 4 days at local churches. The medical team will be led by nurse practitioner Dr. Tiney Ray. As support staff, it will be the job of the nurses to educate patients on medications and disease process after being seen by Dr. Ray. We will also perform physical assessments, obtain vital signs, and distribute medications. Non- medical personnel will distribute medications and supplies, facilitate the flow of the patients being seen, and assist the medical staff. Local translators will be available to help with communication. We will end the trip at a resort where we will fellowship and debrief before returning home.
