Posted over 8 years ago by James F. Lawrence

Attention all UAPRN Members !!

This is my very first call to action of 2016 !!! CAPRN has alerted me to the following announcement so please do what you can in acting upon this. And yes, your single effort could makeĀ  a monumental difference and impact on important legislative bills currently being reviewed in the General Assembly this session !

Calling all APRNs of Georgia! The Coalition of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses of Georgia (CAPRN) is excited to sponsor the APRNs of the Day Event at the State Capital this legislative session. The purpose of the event is to increase APRNs visibility and presence at the Georgia legislature, so we can better advocate for our patients and our profession. As you may know, Georgia physicians have had a daily presence at the state capital each day of the legislative session for many years. APRNs....we hope you will consider stepping up to this challenge to increase our visibility, plus it will be fun getting an insider tour of the Gold Dome! One topic that will be up for consideration this year, is a bill that if passed would extend Georgia Tax Credits to APRNs working in primary care settings (that physicians are already receiving) for serving as preceptors to APRN, PA, and medical students.

The dates selected were chosen to align with Health and Human Services Committee meetings dates, which you will be able to attend during your visit. Preparing for your day at the Capital is simple. The only necessary preparation is for you to be in professional dress along with your lab coat ready to introduce yourself as an APRN, describe your practice setting, and other roles you may have in your community. Julianna McConnell (the Coalition of Advanced Practice Nurses lobbyist) will be there to guide you through your day. There is no limit on how many people can participate per day. If you can only come for the morning or afternoon that is fine, our lobbyist says the morning call out introductions are the most important first step to increase APRN visibility.

Here is the tentative schedule for APRNs of the day:
