Position Description

Georgia State University and Memorial Health University Physicians Group is seeking a Nurse Practitioner for their Savannah location. Clinic provides services for primary care, women's health, mental health, LGBTQ health, and laboratory services.

Memorial Health University Physicians (MHUP) is part of Memorial Health, the region's largest health system that includes the only Level I trauma center for the most acute illness and injuries and dedicated children's, cancer and heart hospitals to serve a 35-county area in southeast Georgia and southern South Carolina.

The Memorial Health system includes its flagship hospital - Memorial Health University Medical Center - a 612-bed academic medical center; Memorial Health University Physicians' primary and specialty care networks; a major medical education program; business and industry services; and NurseOne, a 24-hour call center. Responsibilities:

  • Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients.
  • Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.
  • Performs a complete physical exam and records findings. Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients and assists physician in handling medical and surgical emergencies. 
  • Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
  • Administers medications and injections according to physician directions and performs other clinical functions as needed. Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. 
  • Provides patient education. Interview and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. 
  • Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information. Post tests and examination results. 
  • Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation. Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits. 
  • Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested. 
  • Maintains patient confidentiality. 
  • Maintain professional level of conduct regarding attitude and communication with staff and patients. 
  • Performs other duties as required. 
  • Must read and understand and adhere to all Physician Services policies and procedures. 
  • Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct and Mission and Values statements.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practice, and medical care to give and evaluate patient care. 
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments. 
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment 
  • Ability to assess medical conditions and interpret findings. 
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. 
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly. 
  • One year clinical experience preferred.

Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing 
  • Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.

Certification/License:

  • Possession of a State Registered Advance Nurse Practitioner License is required and must possess ANA Certification
